Today, I’m excited to write about a partnership that will forever transform our community’s approach to learning and entrepreneurship. Kennesaw State University (KSU) and IgniteHQ have partnered to form an academic-tech incubator for inventors and entrepreneurs. We recognize that the application of science, engineering, and math disciplines is becoming ever-increasingly integral to our global economy’s success. Our new partnership gives our students an environment for learning from not only experienced KSU faculty and staff, but industry leaders as well as they prepare to introduce their own inventions to the world.
The Power of Partnership
The power of this unique partnership comes from the collaboration between academia and the private tech sector. IgniteHQ helps further Kennesaw State University’s credibility as an academic institution that not only focuses on educating, but puts importance on the marketability of that education. We’ve come a long way since our commuter college days from 50 years ago. Today, we’re committed to adding value to our students’ education and our partnership with IgniteHQ is accomplishing that.
Synergy is always an important factor in any partnership. Our partnership brings our strong academic resources as Georgia’s third-largest university with IgniteHQ’s reach and influence in the tech startup world. We’re excited to witness how IgniteHQ’s access to highly experienced mentors and advisors forges the development of new inventions when combined with Kennesaw State University’s knowledgeable faculty, staff, and alumni base.
As part of this partnership, we are working hard to gain the support from alumni who can help aspiring inventors turn their dreams into solutions and products that people can enjoy. Kennesaw State University has over 80,000 former students in the Atlanta metro area and we look forward to encouraging them to play an important role in this new partnership.
My excitement for this partnership hinges on its potential for economic growth, community engagement, and the supplementing of education. You can expect this partnership to help inventors develop products and solutions that transform industries. It will also give our students hope and doubled enthusiasm for their field of study. It will inspire KSU alumni to reach back and support.
Our partnership with IgniteHQ is bigger than the office space it provides for inventors. It’s more than a venue for wonderful events. It’s a resource that will benefit students, faculty, dreamers, entrepreneurs, and eventually consumers for many years to come.
A Partnership that Serves Our Current and Former Students
The most rewarding aspect of our partnership with IgniteHQ is the educational, practical, and experiential support it provides to our intelligent student body. We have the minds behind our world’s next revolutionary inventions right here at Kennesaw State University. We are especially fascinated by the prospects of the pipeline IgniteHQ will create for our students including the Coles College of Business entrepreneurship program, KSU’s School of Engineering and KSU’s School of Computer Science.
If you’re a student who’s a strategic thinker, a problem solver, or an opportunity seeker, you can now apply your classroom teachings to the development of an amazing product. IgniteHQ will host networking events, training opportunities, and educational programs for KSU students. IgniteHQ also will encourage the inventors and mentors in the incubator to make exclusive internship opportunities available for our students. Last but not least, our students who are ready to bring their idea to the marketplace will have access to a directory of potential investors for funding opportunities. Both KSU and IgniteHQ are committed to your imagination and your excellence!
As I alluded to earlier, we are seeking alumni who are interested in backing this new community by mentoring or sponsoring our students and incubator members. Alumni are also welcome to consider obtaining services from the community for their own ideas. We are focused on supporting our students because we recognize that today’s students are tomorrow’s alumni leaders.
With so many resources for startups in Atlanta, it’s refreshing and extremely honoring for Kennesaw State University to play a role in breaking ground with IgniteHQ for this hi-tech community resource for North Georgia. We are confident that it will do more than impact our university, IgniteHQ will transform North Georgia’s entire entrepreneurial ecosystem. Join us in this mission and let’s make a difference.
