I’ve worked at a variety of offices in my professional life — from a corporate tower to a historic house to modern coworking spaces. What I’ve found is the physical environment usually doesn’t matter to me since most of my day is spent in front of a computer. Give me a chair, computer and desk and I’m good to go!
But, the people I work around do matter. The people in my office can make me look forward to going to work each day or dread it.
At IgniteHQ, I know I’ll be around smart, passionate entrepreneurs every day. I know I’ll be challenged by someone’s work ethic or have a meaningful conversation about business processes and my company will be better because of it. I’m fortunate to have several peers at IgniteHQ like Aaron Reimann and Patrick Burns who work in the same industry and with the same technology. I wonder if the other members get sick of hearing about WordPress? 🙂
It’s not just my co-workers that make me look forward to going to the office. IgniteHQ has become a hub for local meetups. I’m meeting new people and hanging with friends and colleagues all the time. Whether it’s the Marietta WordPress Meetup or one of A Brighter Web’s weekly meetups, there’s always something going on.
In the past month, I’ve learned about WordPress coding strategies, changes to Google’s search algorithm, and tax implications for my business. I’ve even had the chance to present on a topic important to me. All of the meetups are well attended and the topics are always relevant to my business.
There’s nothing better than listening to an industry expert share knowledge and best practices in a room full of friends, old and new, all just steps from my desk.
To me, the perfect office isn’t about the space. It’s the people who make the difference.
